DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 01: EXPLORE THE CITY OF SIEM REAP AND UNDERSTAND ITS HISTORY
Upon arrival, greeted with a warm welcome by our friendly tour guide and transferred to your hotel of choice.
Cambodia houses the Largest Religious Monument in the World and is famously known as the Land of Temples and Towers. Explore and discover its awe-inspiring famous ruins & temples, turbulent past, laid back islands, untouched jungles, rich heritage & natural beauty.
Proceed on a Discovery Tour of Siem Reap. Said to be “The Most Beautiful Temple in Cambodia”, Wat Preah Prom Rath is unlike the usual temples of Angkor Wat which are mostly ruined, this is a magnificent temple. With a reclining Buddha inside and numerous stupas and a ship-shaped sculpture outside, which is said to be built because of the moving story of a monk using a ship to protect and transport food. There is an introduction to this story on the corridor of the temple.
Thereafter proceed to Preah Ang Chek and Preah Ang Chorm Shrine, meaning The Sisters Temple which is said to provide spiritual protection for the entire Siem Reap . Local legends have it that when the Khmer Rogues who were on a mission to destroy religion in Cambodia and entered this shrine and attempted to remove the statues, they were growing heavier by the second until they were unable to even move them. Aside from beliefs of its indestructibility, this shrine is also believed to bring good fortune to newly married couples
Visit Siem Reap's Royal Gardens. This gardens are made up of the River Gardens and the Royal Crusade for Independence Gardens, named after the historical events that took place when the former King and General were planning the Royal Crusade for Independence from French Colonial rule. The real draw in the garden is the vast colony of Giant Fruit Bats that lives there. Look up at any time of the day and you will see them hanging from every bough, chirping like hungry nestlings.
Next visit The War Memorial monument and Wat Thmei, known as The Killing Field, a memorial housing the skulls of victims of the Khmer Rouge regime. Here you can understand more about Cambodia’s tragic history during this era.
Finally stop at Cambodias Best Duty-Free Store. Thereafter dinner and overnight at your selected hotel.
DAY 02: EXPLORE THE ANCIENT CAPITAL AND THE GREAT CITY OF ANGKOR | RELAX IN PUB STREET + NIGHT MARKET (B, L, D)
After breakfast depart for the Ancient Capital of Angkor Wat which is an architectural masterpiece and the largest religious monument in the world. It was built by the Khmer King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century and is the earthly representation of Mount Meru, the Mount Olympus of the Hindu faith, and The Abode of Ancient Gods. Originally dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu, Angkor Wat became a Buddhist temple by the end of the 12th century. The temple is the heart and soul of Cambodia and a source of fierce national pride. Unlike the other Angkor monuments, it was never abandoned to the elements and has been in virtually continuous use since it was built.
After lunch 2 miles from Angkor Wat explore the Great City of Angkor Thom which was the last and most enduring capital city of the Khmer Empire. It was established in the late 12th century by King Jayavarman VII. Angkor Thom is not a singular temple, it is the name of one of the Most Impressive Royal Cities of the Angkor Period (9th–15th centuries) and an urban planning marvel. At the height of its power, the Angkor Empire controlled much of modern day mainland Southeast Asia and the center of its kingdom always remained in Angkor—in what is today Siem Reap.
Visit the South Gate, one of the five main gates into ancient Angkor Thom, built in the late 12th-century in Bayon style, this is the most famous and best preserved of the major city gates into the Angkor Thom.
Several centuries before Leonardo DaVinci created the enigmatic smile of his Mona Lisa, hundreds of serene faces displaying equally enigmatic smiles were carved into this famous temple now known as Bayon. This Bayon Temple A temple With many Faces houses 50 towers with over 200 faces. Thereafter next to it vist the Pyramid Temple in Angkor The Baphuon Temple, which is one of the quieter of the main Angkor ruins.
Photo stop at Terrace of Elephant, and Terrace of Leper King before heading to The Temple which was the Set for the Hollywood Movie TOMB RAIDER Ta Prohm Temple.
Continue further to visit The Citadel of Monks, known as Banteay Kdei and A 10th Century Romantic Architecture known as Srah Srong which has all the elements of a romantic setting, with its surrounding greenery, its grand landing stage and sweeping views across the water, reflecting a sunrise or a setting sun.
Last stop at Pre-Rub Temple that consists of a pyramid-shaped and is one of the Most popular Sunset Spots around Angkor.
After dinner, an hour leisure at Pub Street & Night Market. Enjoy the dazzling sight of the abounding cheap goods, exotic food and live bands as you explore every corner of this sparkly district. Pamper yourself with their relaxing therapeutic massage and spa services at a very affordable cost. It’s the perfect place to cool down after an entire day of temple tour under the heat of the sun.
Remark: Buffet dinner with traditional Khmer dance will be arranged should the restaurant be open during your traveling period.
DAY 03: PROCEED TO PHNOM PENH | SKUON MARKET | WAT OUNALOM | SUNSET CRUISE ON THE MEKONG (B, L, D)
After breakfast, check-out from hotel and depart for Phnom Penh. (approx. 6hours)
Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s busy capital, sits at the junction of the Mekong and Tonlé Sap rivers was the hub for both the Khmer Empire and French colonialists. On its walkable riverfront, lined with parks, restaurants and bars, are the ornate Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and the National Museum, displaying artifacts from around the country.
Enroute to Phnom Penh, we will have a short stop at Skuon Market, a popular place for Cambodian snacks, fried spider, and many other insects.
Arrive for lunch at city restaurant and proceed to hotel for check-in.
Thereafter visit Wat Ounalom, the Oldest Buddhist Foundation in the city with monastery structures built from the Year 1443.
Thereafter embark on a Cruise on the Mekong River. This cruise will give you a great opportunity to explore the Mekong and Four Faces rivers, Diamond Island, Fishing village, stilted houses, lifestyle of the people who live along the riverbank and the city sunset.
Proceed for dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
DAY 04: EXPLORE THE CITY OF PHNOM PENH AND DEPART (B, L)
Ater breakfast at hotel proceed on a Discovery Tour of Phnom Penh, visiting Central Market, Wat Phnom & Daun Penh Statue, Post Office (French Colonial Building), Independence Monument, Memorial bronze statue of King Norodom Sihanouk and Royal Palace Park. (outside visit only, please pay Royal Palace entrance ticket on your own USD10/pax if you want to enter inside of Royal Palace)
Lunch will be provided in a city restaurant during the tour.
Thereafter transferred to airport for your onward journey.
