DAY 01: ARRIVE AND TOUR KUCHING (Lunch)
➤ Met and greet upon arrival.
➤ Kuching is absolutely worth visiting—and not just because of the attractions, It is also One of the Most Beautiful Cities in Malaysia and also one of The Most Laid-Back, as a result of its location along the banks of the Sarawak River.
➤ Split by the Sarawak River, the northern and southern parts of the city divide along ethnic lines, creating a different feeling on each side. The highlights of the city include the narrow and bustling streets which are crammed with shops selling all manner of goods, from the mundane to the exotic. There are ornate Chinese temples, many fine examples of colonial-style architecture, a beautiful waterfront and a number of interesting museums, including the historic Sarawak Museum and the nearby Gunung Gading National Park.
➤ Thereafter proceed on a Discovery Tour of Kuching. Cruise on by the many attractions this historical city has to offer, which includes the Gigantic Cat Statue which symbolized the mascot of Kuching City. In the exciting buzz of Chinatown, proceed to Tua Pek Kong Temple, One of the Oldest Temples in Sarawak. Also, try and spot the Margherita Fort, It’s hard to miss such a stunning structure. It is an old fort constructed in 1879 by Charles Brooke, the fort is an important landmark and monument in Sarawak's history which goes back to the Brooke Dynasty. En route the next destination you will be able to witness traditional Malay houses built on Stilts. Winding through the heart of the city, look out for a majestic looking Astana Kuching that homed the former palace of White Rajah then turned into the official residence of the Governor of Sarawak. Look out for the Clock Tower and a granite obelisk built in memory of Rajah Brooke. Thereafter proceed to the Kuching Waterfront, which is the most popular gathering place here. The esplanade stretches for about 900 meter along the south bank of the Sarawak River. Dotted the length of it are food stalls, a restaurant, bistro and street food hawkers. At night, the whole stretch of the esplanade comes alive. Buskers fill the air with ethnic and contemporary songs and music. To add to the vibrancy, the Darul Hana Musical fountain comes on with its colourful display.
➤ Lunch will be provided at local restaurant depending on the time of arrival.
➤ Right after the tour proceed to the hotel for check in and personal activities.
➤ Overnight at city hotel/resort.

DAY 02: DEPART AND CHECK INTO BAKO NATIONAL PARK AND START YOUR JUNGLE TRAIL (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
➤ After breakfast at the hotel, check out and proceed for BAKO NATIONAL PARK.
➤ Bako National Park, established since 1957, is the Oldest and one of the Most Popular national parks in Sarawak. Situated about 37 km from Kuching City, the excursion takes about 1hr30mins by land and boat. With an area about 2,728 hectares, it offers the Perfect introduction to Sarawak’s Forest and Wildlife. Unlike the other parks, visitors to Bako National Park are almost Guaranteed to see Wildlife such as long-tailed macaques, squirrels, white bearded pigs, silver leaf monkeys, etc. With 17 trails provided, ranging from 0.2 km to 5.75 km, you will almost find new experience in each different trail. You will be brought along the Teluk Paku trail. To spot the Proboscis monkey, species, which only can be found in Borneo Island, you will need to walk slowly, keep as quiet as possible, and listen out for sounds and movement along the way. In Bako National Park, you will also be able to view 7 different types of vegetations and forests from almost desert-like scrub or ‘padang’ to lowland dipterocarp forest.
➤ Bako also has some good White Sand Beaches that provide perfect resting spots in between jungle treks. Take the Telok Pandan Kecil trail which is perhaps Bako’s best beach. After an hour or so the Telok Pandan Kecil trail comes to a rocky headland. The view down to a Beautiful Secluded Bay, and the thought of a swim in the cool waters, has a magical effect on tired calf muscles. The following 20 minute descent suddenly becomes more enjoyable. All of the beaches are bordered by Limestone and Sandstone Cliffs, and the action of the sea has left some remarkable rock formations, such as the famous Sea Stack.
➤ If you take a stroll at sunset on Telok Assam beach near the park HQ, you will see hundreds of swifts hovering around their nests at the rocks at the far end of the beach. Don’t leave the beach after the sun disappears behind Mount Santubong. Wait another 20 minutes as the sky’s colours often change dramatically, providing a colourful backdrop to the mountain.

➤ Check in and overnight at the Bako National Park’s Resthouse.

DAY 03: EXPLORE THE PARK FURTHER. AFTER LUNCH RETURN TO KUCHING AND DEPART (Breakfast)
➤ Rise and Shine, another new day in the Land of the Hornbills. Sarawak is a fascinating place for bird-watching, and that is exactly the agenda for today! With over 150 species have been recorded here, bird watching in Bako is the ideal place for both the serious birdwatcher and curious nature lover.
➤ Spot other wildlife such as monitor lizards, squirrels and other animals around the park area.
➤ Return to guesthouse for breakfast.
➤ Continue your exploration to the Plateau, home to various botanical delights and several species of the carnivorous pitcher plants. You may notice how its vegetation changes from mangrove to rainforest, to Kerangas and to padang forest.
➤ After lunch, depart the National Park and return back to Kuching and transferred to airport.

➤ [1] Tanjung Sapi
➤ A short but steep climb through cliff vegetation. Takes about 30 minutes. Offers excellent views of Telok Assam, overlooking the South China Sea and Santubong. Proboscis monkeys can sometimes be heard crashing amongst the trees, looking for leaves to feed on, especially early in the morning.
➤ [2] Telok Paku
➤ One of the best trails to for spotting proboscis monkeys, which are often seen during early mornings or late afternoons. The trail leads you through cliff forest before reaching a small secluded beach, perfect for lounging in ultimate serenity.
➤ [3] Ulu Assam
➤ This trail climbs steeply and require you to hang on to tree roots to keep your balance. But once you reach the top, you are rewarded with mind-blowing views of Bako’s coastline. This adventurous trail takes first takes you through swamp forest and then a flat section where proboscis monkey are sometimes seen.
➤ [4] Telok Delima
➤ An excellent trail for spotting proboscis monkeys, and only a mere 45 minutes from park HQ. Here is where you should keep your eyes peeled and listen out for any possible strange grunting noises or the crash of vegetation. If it is your lucky day, you may see a harem of proboscis monkeys
➤ [5] Serait
➤ Great for seeing the giants of Bako rainforest. This trail takes about one and a half hours to complete and ends at the park boundary. It is not frequent by trekkers because it is somewhat secluded.
➤ [6] Telok Pandan Kecil & Telok Pandan Besar
➤ One of Bako’s most popular trails. It ascends the lush hills overlooking Telok Assam, reaching a plateau sheltered under scrub vegetation and continues along a sandy path lined with carnivorous pitcher plants. Shortly afterwards, you reach a cliff top and rewarded with stunning views of the secluded bay below and the handsomely fashioned sea stacks off the shore. A 10 minute descent through cliff vegetation ushers you to one of the best beaches in the park. Whilst swimming, watch out for monkeys who steal unguarded bags. The Telok Pandan Besar trail ends at a cliff top with vies of the beach below.
➤ [7] Lintang
➤ Lintang trail is yet another popular trek. This trail bring you through nearly all of the vegetation types found in Bako. The section between Ulu Assam and Serait also makes for a good spot to get acquainted with some Proboscis Monkeys. The Bukit Tambi viewpoint is a short detour off the main trail.
➤ [8] Tajor
➤ The Tajor trail passes scrub and padang vegetation and ends with a steep climb down to a small beach.. The Tajor trail will also lead you to a refreshing water hole, the Tajor Waterfall. The waterfall is quite small (and best after heavy rain) but it has a beautiful jungle setting and a small dip pool. From the park HQ it takes about two and half hours to reach the waterfall.
➤ [9] Tanjung Rhu
➤ This trail branches off the Tajor trail and leads you to the rocky Rhu peninsula, a small headland where you can see wave-cut platforms and rock pools. From the park HQ, it takes about two and half hours. From Tajor junction, it takes 45 minutes.
➤ [10] Ulu Serait
➤ Thread through padang vegetation and swamp forests, connecting the Lintang trail with the Bukit Gondol hill walk. From Lintang junction to the base of Bukit Gondola is about one and a half hours.
➤ [11] Bukit Gondol
➤ This semi-circular loop trail passes over Bukit Gondol, the highest point in Bako at 2660 meters. The top of the hill offers excellent views of Pulau Lakei and Muara tebas. The loop trek takes about 45 minutes.
➤ [12] Paya Jelutong
➤ This trail is actually a short cut for those who do not wish to climb Bukit Gondol. Although it is very short trail it offers the opportunity of seeing fresh water swamp forest. The most dominant species in the area is Jelutong, a type of softwood used for making pencils.
➤ [13] Bukit Keruing
➤ This trail connects Bukit Gondol with Tajor and passes some mighty rainforest giants. It passes along the slopes of Bukit Keruing, the second highest point in Bako. From Paya Jelutong to the Tajor Waterfall takes about one and half hours.
➤ [14] Telok Sibur
➤ A full day trek. From the park HQ it takes about three and half hours to reach the end of Telok Sibur trail, first following the Tajor trail to the waterfall. Continue along the main trail for another 45 minutes until you reach a junction and the start of the Sibur trail. After a very steep 45 minutes descent, a walk through the mangrove and a wade across a river you finally reach the longest beach in Bako.
➤ [15] Telok Limau
➤ This is Bako’s long distance trail, six or seven hours from the park HQ to the small beach at Telok Limau. You pass through rich rainforest, scrub land and swamp forest, cross small streams and climb a number of hilly sections affording excellent views of the whole Muara Tebas peninsula. You can camp at Telok Limau and return the next day or arrange for a boat to pick you up.
➤ [16] Telok Keruin
➤ Being so far from the park HQ, the Telok Keruin trail is rarely used. It is usually done as a side trek from Telok Limau. From Telok Limau, the first section is a 15-20 minute climb through the forest until you reach a scrub section. You must then trek for another 25 minutes before you reach the Telok Keruin trail. Shortly after the junction the trail descends to an area of scrub vegetation. Look out for pitcher plants that line the side of the trail. There are four short side-trails which lead to the Bukit Keruin lookout, a small rock pool, the Muara Tebas lookout point, and the Tanjung Keruin and Tanjung Po viewpoints. The last section of the trail is a very steep descent to a mangrove forest. The trail then continues through the mangroves. Look out for the marks on the tress which show the way to the deserted beach – one of the best in the park.
➤ [17] Pulau Lakei
➤ A major attraction at the Bako National Park in the Lakei Island. It is known for its beautiful white sand beach. You can spend some time here and just sit back and relax from all the hiking. You’ll come across some rock paintings here that you must surely see. To get to the island, you will hop onto a boat accompanied by a boatman who will take you to the island.
