A fun belief says that Sage Asti Muni used to take daily baths in all rivers but during winter, when travel was impossible, the Yamuna appeared at Yamunotri to bless him. That’s why the dham is considered a gift of divine compassion.

Vishwanath Temple Situated at Uttarkashi, this ancient Shiva temple is believed to be protected by the local deity Bhairav. Pilgrims visit here before Gangotri, believing that Lord Shiva blesses their entire Char Dham journey.
