DETAILED ITINERARY |
DAY 01: ARRIVE YOGYAKARTA > PRAMBANAN > SUNSET IJO TEMPLE (L, D)
|
• |
Upon arrival at Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA), you will be welcomed by our friendly local guide and the tour begins. |
• |
Enjoy your first taste of Javanese cuisine at local restaurant. |
• |
After lunch, head to the grand Prambanan Temple, a 9th-century Hindu temple compound and one of Indonesia’s most treasured UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Stroll through the impressive ruins and marvel at the ancient stone carvings that narrate the Ramayana epics. |
• |
Continue to enjoy sunset at Ijo Temple - the highest temple in Yogyakarta. Ijo Temple, or Candi Ijo in Indonesia, is one of the oldest and most sacred temples in Yogyakarta. From the temple, you can see the panoramic view of the surrounding landscape, including the city of Yogyakarta, the Prambanan Temple, and the Merapi Volcano. The view is especially breathtaking during the sunset, when the sky turns into a kaleidoscope of colors and the temple glows with a golden hue. |
• |
Dinner at local restaurant. |
• |
You'll be transferred to your selected hotel for check-in and overnight stay in Yogyakarta. |
• |
Optional Activity Upon Request: Ramayana Ballet Prambanan - RM150 /pax (2 years old and above). |
• |
For those interested, you can watch the famous Ramayana Ballet at the open-air Trimurti Theater near Prambanan. The show runs from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, featuring traditional Javanese dance, music, and colorful costumes set against the stunning backdrop of the illuminated Prambanan Temple. A beautiful way to end your first day in Yogyakarta. |
|
DAY 02: BOROBUDUR MORNING DISCOVERY > KRATON > WATER CASTLE > KOTAGEDE (B, L, D)
|
• |
Breakfast at the hotel and embark on a journey to one of Indonesia’s greatest treasures – Borobudur Temple, the largest Buddhist temple in the world. This UNESCO World Heritage site features intricate relief panels and Buddha statues set on a series of terraces with panoramic views of the surrounding plains and mountains. (Entry ticket includes access to the temple grounds only, additional charge RM50 to climb up to the upper terraces and stupas, subject to availability). |
• |
After lunch, the Sultan is expecting you at the royal residence, Kraton Yogyakarta. While you might not get a tea with His Majesty, you'll explore grand halls, antique collections, and traditional architecture that still hosts royal ceremonies to this day. |
• |
Out of the palace, a carriage is waiting and ready to take you to Taman Sari Water Castle which was a royal bathing complex with beautiful gardens, pools, and tunnels that once served as a hideaway for the Sultan and his family. |
• |
Continue your visit to Kotagede, the capital of the Old Kingdom as well as the silver center in Yogyakarta. One of the things that makes Kota Gede so special is the way it holds on to its heritage. While Yogyakarta is modernizing at a rapid rate, Kota Gede remains a bastion of traditional Javanese culture, where the slower pace of life and the respect for history is evident in every corner. |
• |
Dinner at local restaurant. |
• |
Return to hotel and overnight. |
|
DAY 03: JOGJA CITY TOUR > KASONGAN POTTERY VILLAGE > MALIOBORO STREET (B, L)
|
• |
After breakfast, begin with a visit to Sonobudoyo Museum, which houses one of Indonesia’s richest collections of Javanese art and artifacts. Home to objects including ceramics from the Neolithic age, statues and bronze articles from the 8th century, and wayangs, the museum presents a cultural display that will open your mind to the wonders of Javanese culture. |
• |
Next, walk over to Fort Vredeburg, a Dutch-built fortress from the 18th century that now serves as a historical museum. |
• |
Continue to Beringharjo Market, one of the oldest and most iconic markets in Jogja. Here you’ll find rows of batik fabrics, traditional herbs, snacks, and souvenirs. |
• |
After lunch at a local restaurant, head to Kasongan, a tourism village of pottery craft. Walking through the village, you'll see open-air workshops, family-run galleries, and rows of colorful pottery lining the streets. You are welcome to observe the process — from molding and kiln-firing to painting and glazing — and even try your hand at making a simple ceramic piece. |
• |
Wrap up your trip with a final stroll along Malioboro Street, the lively shopping strip famous for its street food, batik shops, and cultural performances. |
|
