After breakfast at the hotel, proceed towards Jaffna, a region that feels like a world away from the rest of Sri Lanka. Closer to southern India than to Colombo, Jaffna has been historically settled by Tamil migrants and has retained its own unique cultural identity, traditions, and cuisine. |

En route, visit the sacred Munneswaram Kovil in Chilaw, one of the three celebrated ancient Isvarams of Lord Shiva, the others being Thiruketheeswaram near Mannar and Konneswaram in Trincomalee. According to the Ramayana, it was here that Lord Rama prayed to Lord Shiva after defeating Ravana, seeking solace for the burden of Brahmahathi Dosham. Just a short distance away, visit the Manavari Temple, where Lord Rama is believed to have consecrated a Shiva Lingam, known as the Ramalingam, the first lingam of its kind outside India. |

Continue the journey to Mannar and stop at the ancient Thiruketheeswaram Kovil, one of the five Pancha Ishwaram temples dedicated to Lord Shiva.
